Hunger Hill Family Nature Connection Summer Camp

From 4pm on the 3rd to 10am on the  7th August 2020

The Hunger Hill Yurt Family camp is for families who want to take time out to reconnect with each other, the nature around them and their own creative and wild selves.

Inspirational activities, with time to play, relax and deepen your relationship with nature.

The camp is gently led by Chris Holland, a nature connection facilitator, bushcraft teacher, storyteller and musician with over 15 years of experience running camps for children and families. In the healthy kitchen is Jo, a local chef, yogini and smallholder helping us connect with the ingredients and the seasons through her delicious cooking.

The flow of the day includes breakfast,  a morning circle and activity session. After lunch there is time for dreaming, wandering or siesta before tea and cake and an afternoon activity option followed by the evening meal.  In the evening we gather again for story of the day, some storytelling and an optional night game or naturalist activity. There are bats, nightjars and even beavers and otters nearby.

Introducing your chef - Jo

I love the way the cycles of the seasons connect me to the food I want to eat. I love to grow my own food and being close to the land with a fork in my hand is where you will find me in my happy place.

Cooking simple delicious meals with whole ingredients that have just been harvested and sharing them with others is my favourite thing to do. I also teach cooking workshops designed to empower people to develop and trust their intuition and feel more joyful as they grow their confidence in the kitchen.

I am excited and honoured to be part of this Family Nature Connection Summer Camp and look forward to nourishing you around the table.

During this Summer Camp I will be serving you delicious locally grown seasonal food. We will be plastic free and zero waste but full of taste. Eating this way helps to plug us in to the vitality of our surroundings, we might even find some wild and foraged foods to add to our meals.

There will be opportunities to come and chat about the kitchen ethos  and the chance to get involved in a healthy snack making workshop.

Your accommodation is in cosy Yurts with comfy beds...

The four Meadow Yurts each have a double and 2/3 single beds and small kitchen for snacks and morning tea. The rugs and sheepskins give the Yurts a nomadic feel and the wood burners ensure they are always cosy. Just outside each Yurt are hammocks, a picnic table and fire pit with BBQ grill. All are in easy reach of the main kitchen and facilities. There is a point to charge a phone in your Yurt and free WiFi.

The Orchard Yurt is in an area of its own but has access to the Yurt Meadow. It's a large Yurt, making room for a big comfy sofa in front of the wood burning stove. The fairy lights, cushions and rugs give the Yurt a very cosy feel. Both double and single beds can be made up according to your needs. The Orchard Yurt has it's own kitchen, shower and toilet close by. It also has hammocks, a picnic bench and fire pit with BBQ grill.
